First Hollywood Film Production in Mauritius – Serenity Movie
Serenity full feature Hollywood film will be entirely shot in Mauritius between mid of July and end of August. Many Hollywood stars including Uma Thurman, Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey will be in Mauritius Island for the Film Shoot.
“Serenity” is a thriller about a fishing boat captain whose past threatens his sense of reality on a small Caribbean island. Mauritius Island has been chosen instead of Dominican Republic as July-August is the cyclonic period there. Mauritius island has been chosen as it is an island where many facilities exist for feature film production. Steven Knight will direct this first hollywood film to be entirely shot in Mauritius.

“Serenity” will be the first hollywood film that will be entirely shot in Mauritius Island. Serenity will be benefitting 40% of Film Rebate Scheme. With the collaboration of Board of Investment, Identical Pictures acted as the facilitator for obtaining the Film Rebate Scheme. Film permits have been granted by the local authorities notably – Mauritius Film Development Corporation.
This new high profile Hollywood film will provide a strong boost of interest in film production in Mauritius.
